We now offer the latest techniques to enhance our evaluation of ocular health using OCT Imaging and High Definition Retinal Photography.
An optical coherence tomography scan (OCT scan) helps us to view the health of your eyes in greater detail, by allowing us to see what's going on beneath the surface of the eye in 3D. It lets us examine parts of the retina in a way not possible with conventional instruments and can help detect sight threatening eye conditions earlier. Glaucoma can be detected up to four years earlier with OCT compared with traditional imaging methods.
OCT allows your optician to identify subtle changes over time, such as changes in the vitreous (the jelly-like substance that fills the eye), retina, macula and the optic nerve. These include Glaucoma, Diabetic retinopathy, Age-related macular degeneration, Macular hole and Detached Retina
Please ask about OCT and digital imaging when making your eye appointment.
