We are one of only a few places in Sutton Coldfield that provide NHS Digital Diabetic Eye Screening.  The method recognised for screening diabetic patients is via digital retinal photography.

It is important that patients over the age of 11 years who are diabetic have their eyes digitally photographed at regular intervals to look for any changes that can frequently occur. Diabetic Retinopathy can cause damage and loss of sight. Early diagnosis and treatment may help prevent deterioration.

Please note, as part of the screening examination eye drops are used. These may cause blurring of vision and sensitivity to light. Symptoms can last from 2 to 4 hours or sometimes longer.

PATIENTS ARE ADVISED NOT TO DRIVE TO AND FROM THE SCREENING APPOINTMENT.
